What began as a quiet farming, trapping, and mining town in the 1800’s has gradually turned into one of the most beautiful recreational areas in Arkansas. As fate would have it, the completion of the Bull Shoals Dam on the White River in the early 1950’s coincided perfectly with the ever blossoming recreational habits of Americans. Throughout the 1960’s American families traveled with increasing frequency to new locations seeking rest and relaxation. The lucky ones found Buffalo City.

The White Buffalo Resort started as a small campground on the White River in the 1960’s. With primitive facilities, most people stayed in tents along the riverfront. By the late 1970’s the property had added a swimming pool and an office, complete with full restrooms and showers. In 1981 the resort added its first boat dock and officially became known as the White Buffalo Resort. As time moved forward, the White Buffalo Resort has gradually added full hook up RV sites, small camper cabins, deluxe cabins, and deluxe lodges. Today, the White Buffalo Resort enjoys a well-earned reputation for life-long memories, world-class trout fishing, breathtaking views, and peaceful retreats.

The White Buffalo Resort is now owned by Matthew and Kyla Leiboult. The Leiboult’s first came to the White Buffalo in 2010 as seasonal workampers hoping to determine if resort life was something they wanted to pursue long-term. Though they moved away at the end of the season, their time at the White Buffalo Resort had just begun. When the previous owners decided to retire a few years later, the Leiboults name came up as possible new owners. Through much prayer, many conversations, and numerous long emails, the Leiboult’s excitedly moved back to Buffalo City in late 2017 to start the process of transitioning into ownership. The Leiboults are blessed to have a wonderful relationship with the previous resort owners who really took the time to set the Leiboults up for success.

The Leiboults thoroughly enjoy living and raising their family in beautiful Buffalo City Arkansas. They have five children (four boys and a girl), all of whom enjoy the great outdoors as much as mom and dad. The Leiboult family is very much a working family and you are likely to see all of the family helping out at some point during your stay. When they’re not working, the Leiboults enjoy fishing (yes, they’re often out on the rivers at least once a week), hunting, hiking, and boating on the area lakes. The Leiboults are followers of Jesus Christ and strive to conduct themselves and their business in a manner that would honer God.

The Leiboult family is more than proud to be a part of the continuing legacy of the White Buffalo Resort and is glad to welcome you to the White Buffalo Resort!
